Our Story
From scratch since the early '80s.
Before Blaine knew it as Carol's Restaurant, the north metro knew it as Carol's Calico Kitchen - and a lot of regulars still call it that. Either name, it's the same promise: Carol Brown has been cooking for this community since the early 1980s, and she's never seen a reason to take shortcuts.
The bread is baked here. The hash browns are made here. The hollandaise is whisked fresh, the soups start with real stock, and the pies come out of our own oven - not a delivery truck. When we moved into our current home on Aberdeen Street in 2003, the recipes came with us.
It's family owned, it's comfort food, and it's made the long way on purpose.
